Do you spring clean your wardrobe? I do. When the first ray of sun hits my window ledge I start to feel excited about having a wardrobe change over. I use the change of season as a good opportunity to sort out my clothes. I am an organiser; definitely not a hoarder and I love a good clean out, it makes me feel better!
Did you know that you only wear about 20% of your wardrobe regularly. I know I am guilty of picking out the old favourites like that comfy pair of jeans that go with anything. I regularly pass over trousers or tops that feel a bit tight or a little out of shape and hang onto things that I'm never going to wear again but I like.
We all have old favourites that we stick to but with the change in weather (fingers crossed) comes a change in clothes and I'm determined to get out of those leggings and baggy T-shirt combos I've been sporting quite a lot recently.
- Does this fit?
- Have I worn this in the last 12 months?
- Is this currently in style, and/or does this still represent my style?
- Is it damaged? Can it be repaired?
- Do I feel confident when I wear this?
The items that remain are the ones you love and feel confident in. Organising your wardrobe allows you to see what you may be missing for the next season. It should help to give you an idea of your personal style.
5 Questions to ask when you have organised your wardrobe:
- Are there any favourite items that I need to replace?
- Do I have enough bottoms or tops?
- Is there colour in my wardrobe?
- Do I need any new accessories?
- Are there any new season trends I need to add?
After my latest sort-out I found I need a new pair of ankle boots my favourite everyday Chelsea boots have seen better days. I would really like to escape the trousers and baggy tops and be more adventurous with my outfit choices this spring/summer. Last year I bought a maxi dress that was really comfortable and I wore it a lot. It was perfect for beach days but also for a spot of shopping with a light jacket or cardigan thrown over. I would really like another one.
