Photo story: A special Holiday in Turkey

Dear friend,

I am in serious post holiday depression mode. We have just returned from 10 fantastic, fun-filled days in Bodrum Turkey. Hubby had been to Turkey before but it was a first for me and I wasn't quite sure what to expect. I must admit to being a bit nervous before we left for 2 reasons; firstly would the big lad settle ok? Secondly, would there be any backlash against Tourists in Turkey?

We stayed at the Bodrum Holiday resort and Spa. I felt very relaxed and safe there and we had an amazing holiday from start to finish. Special memories were made that I want to share in the hope that I will remember this holiday for a very long time!

Our first day, the balcony was massive!

The boys couldn't wait to try out the slides at the Aqua park!

The view from the restaurant was breathtaking.

My water boys throughly enjoyed the different pools. The big lad even joined in with the water polo and daily Aqua Aerobics.
The slides at the Aqua park were super quick. I embarrassed the boys by screaming every time.
It was great just spending time together. Whether that was at the Aqua park, playing ping pong in Cafe Turk or relaxing at dinner and enjoying the stunning sunset.
The view at dinner every evening, Simply stunning!
We spent a morning in Bodrum. Hubby throughly enjoyed bartering with the traders. I picked up a beautiful handbag. It was such a funny experience stepping into the traders shop was like entering an Aladdin's cave.

The gardens were really well maintained and walking to dinner every evening was lovely as you were surrounded by the sweet smell of honeysuckle.
I didn't think it possible but I am sure my boys are closer now!
The ladies at the kids club made both boys feel really at home and had great, fun activities every day like; t-shirt painting, mini olympics and sand painting.

Hubby joined in other activities organised by the fantastic entertainment team. Every day there was darts, archery, pool games, aqua aerobics and water polo to name a few.
The hotel was all inclusive (buffet style) with 3 al-a-carte restaurants. We ate at the fish restaurant first. The waiters were super with the boys making this beautiful swan and brought hubby and I Rakki and Amaretto post meal. It was a lovely evening and the food was delicious.
Hubby celebrated his birthday with a shave and the hotel sent complimentary fruit and wine.
We ate that evening in the Kebab restaurant. This was our favourite meal. The meat was delicious!
The big lad turned 9 the day after. He had a celebration with friends at home but of course he got some small gifts and we decorated the room. He also received a complimentary fruit basket.

The big lad's birthday dinner was held at the Italian restaurant. The staff had decorated the table beautifully and we had a special cake made and everyone sang to the birthday boy. He was absolutely delighted.
The entertainment team were excellent. Every evening began with the kids disco. By the end of the week both boys were up on stage dancing. All my boys appeared on stage at some point; the big lad received a special Diploma and T-shirt on his birthday and everyone sang. the little man was presented with the t-shirt he painted and his sand paintings. Papa got a special birthday diploma and everyone sang happy birthday for him too.
The entertainment included traditional dancers, a belly dancer and acrobats as well as a Mr Bodrum competition, Mr and Mrs competition and playback show. the big lad really enjoyed all the entertainment.
Our last night. The end to a fabulous holiday!
The boys haven't stopped talking about our holiday in Turkey since we came home. I am so glad that I stepped outside of my comfort zone. It is our first holiday abroad (not counting the UK) since the big lad was tiny. With the correct planning he handled it fantastically: See my post Top tips for peaceful holidays with your kids.
Now were shall we go next year?
